One-to-One in Germany

One-to-One tuition German in Germany

The One-to-One programme is perfectly suited to language students of all ages seeking to considerably improve their language abilities within a short space of time. In 10 to 25 language periods per week, lessons are individually tailored in close consultation with the student. To this end we ascertain the learning objectives of each individual student prior to arrival allowing the language teacher to design the lessons accordingly.
  • Customised model of language acquisition
  • The most effective way of learning, through
    one-to-one care
  • Total immersion in the German language
  • Available in many destinations throughout Germany
ASTUR offers three different versions of the One-to-One programme:

Classic (16 – 20 years old)
You learn German with your language teacher and in the afternoon are able to use your free time as you so desire. The classic programme is aimed at all independent young adults, interested in exploring their course location and surroundings independently in the afternoon.
Premium (10 – 17 years old)
The comprehensive package for young students. You learn German with your language teacher and are fundamentally supervised in the afternoon and on weekends – by both your host family and for certain activities by local supervisors.
Professional (from 21 years old)
You learn German with your language teacher and in the afternoon can discover “your city” yourself, make the most of what the culture has to offer and immerse yourself in the German lifestyle just like a local.

Private Accommodation with a host family

In a homestay, our international guests get first-hand experience of life in a German household with its every day culture and typical way of living. Depending on the family and the household, two to four students will live with one family.

In a homestay you will also receive full board. You will begin the day with a typical breakfast in the morning. For the afternoon you will be given a packed lunch by your host family, and in the evening the family will cook a hot meal. The host family will find out from you what you like and don’t like to eat, and as a bonus, you will also get to know about German cuisine.

Whether you live in the youth hostel or with a host family, please let us know in your application whether you are a vegetarian, a vegan or have any other dietary requirement. We will try to accommodate your preferences and cater for individual needs wherever possible.

ASTUR One-to-One Tuition

Your German language course will always take place in the morning with 2, 3, 4 or 5 lessons a day for 5 days, depending on your booking. At the beginning of every week you will take a placement test, which the teacher will use to help him with preparation for the lessons and gives control about your learning progress.

Together with the “learning intentions” questionnaire, the grading test forms the basis on which lessons are uniquely tailored, as with one-to-one lessons the teacher is exclusively there for you! Naturally this means that lessons are completely different to those you will have experienced in school. Ultimately the teacher only has one student which means breaks are to be taken as and when you need them. It is possible that, for example, the 10 language periods last 10 or more hours as breaks are not included in the lesson time.

Learning to use the language actively is the primary aim of the lessons. Our teachers create their own motivating, cultural and original lesson plans. They can be about a whole range of topics that are taken from “real life” in the form of discussions, role plays, interviews and other active elements. You will simply be able to speak and you should seize this opportunity as speaking the language will aid your learning success and motivate you to take further steps with the language in the future. Your vocabulary and knowledge of grammar will also automatically expand and improve – not just through rote learning, but also through speaking and listening.

Our teachers are native speakers. That means that they do not only speak the language fluently, but they have an ingrained understanding of their native culture. They also have experience in communicating their language to students from other countries.

We teach from levels A0 (beginner without previous knowledge) to C2 (Proficiency) in accordance with the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). We have different lesson material for every level, and the certificate that you receive at the end of your stay will indicate at what level and for how many hours you were taught.

Free Time & Activities

In the ‘Classic’ and ‘Professional’ programmes you choose how to spend your afternoons and what activities you do.
You will spend the evenings with the host family. They will be concerned for your own interests and welfare and integrate you in their everyday life. You might cook together with the family or play a typical board game.

Private Accommodation with a host family

In this programme you receive fulltime supervision from a German-speaking supervisor. Together with your Teamer, and according to your interests and what your location has to offer, you will be accompanied to and given you more information on whatever you decide to do. The Teamer is always open for conversation, regardless whether you feel unwell, have a simple question or just want to speak to someone.
Furthermore, we have a 24-hour emergency hotline every day which we will react to immediately should there be a bigger problem.
